Grand Union Canal Islington - N1

Islington is located to the North of London between Camden Town and Shoreditch. At the heart of Islington is the shopping area around Upper Street which is now dominated by bars, estate agents and coffee shops.

Also on Upper Street is The Business Design Centre; a major exhibition and conference venue. The most sought after properties in the area are the Georgian town houses that surround the area’s squares. Most popular are Cloudesley and Lonsdale squares or for something a little different: modern apartments converted from the industrial buildings alongside The Grand Union Canal.

Angel Station in the heart of Islington is located in zone 1 of the Northern Line with a journey time to central London of between 10 and 15 minutes.

Hope and Anchor on Upper Street

Islington's shopping facilities are all focussed on Upper Street which stretches between Angel and Highbury & Islington tube stops. The street is full of trendy bars and restaurants as well as being home to many of the high street names which you will find in the central shopping districts of Oxford and Regents Street. The appeal of Upper Street is however, that it is less crowded than the central London locations and that it still has some of the quaint little shops you would expect from a historic district.

Wander down the Camden Passage for assorted anitque shops at one end and 'Frost-French' at the other, try Euphorium Bakery for a freshly ground coffee, or look for some quirky furniture at Twenty-Twenty-One or Coexistence. Chapel Market provides choice in clothes, fruit and veg and homeware, whilst The Mall is a centre housing over 35 antique, decorative arts and porcelain shops amongst many. If it is high street names you're after - the N1 Centre has all you could want, but the appeal of Upper Street is really the small and independent shops which are dotted up the entire Upper Street.
